About Sascha Lunyakov
Born in 1974 in Kharkov, Ukraine, veterinarian and painter, freelance artist since 2004
As a young boy, Sascha Lunyakow wanted to have a panda or a Saint Bernard as a pet. If he had been a zoologist, these animals would have been his anyways. From an early age, Lunyakov processed these wishes by drawing animals and internalising their anatomy.
Then he consequently became a veterinarian. Meanwhile, he discovered painting for himself and the magic of applying paint. The Ukrainian artist now entered a world in which animals were more than biological creatures – they are bearers of mythologies that were often thousands of years old. He traced their meaning and combined it in a virtuoso way with his depictions of animals.
Since he has been living in Germany, painting has become entirely his profession.
Graphic or sculpture edition that was initiated by ars mundi and is available only at ars mundi or at distribution partners licensed by ars mundi.
Giclée = derived from the French verb gicler "to squirt, to spray".
The Giclée method is a digital printing process. It is a high-resolution, large-format print produced with an inkjet printer using special different-coloured dye- or pigment-based inks (usually six to twelve). The inks are lightfast, meaning they are resistant to harmful UV light. They provide a high level of nuance, contrast, and saturation.
The Giclée process is suitable for art canvases, handmade paper and watercolour paper as well as silk.
