Detailed description
Object "balangrav"
"How can that be? Shouldn't it fall down?" exclaims the rational mind. "No," replies the BALANGRAV, resting in itself. A beam that, although supported at only one point outside its centre, still remains horizontal? Physically, this is actually impossible. Unless you engage in a game with gravity.
Michael Wedig took up the challenge and combined proven engineering expertise with unconstrained creativity in the realisation of the BALANGRAV. No electronics, no batteries. What matters for the BALANGRAV is mechanical understanding and an appreciation of precise manual labour. Once set in motion, it swings with the long end up and down, allowing enough time to come to rest.
Beam and prism made of rust-free, highly polished stainless steel. Pedestal made of polished and oiled walnut wood and artificial stone. Size 5.5 x 24 x 7 cm (h/w/d). Weight approx. 1.2 kg. Shipping includes polishing cloth.

A plastic work of sculptural art made of wood, stone, ivory, bronze or other metals.
While sculptures made of wood, ivory, or stone are carved directly from the material block, in bronze casting, a working model is prepared at first. Usually, it is made of clay or other easily mouldable materials.
The prime time of sculpture after the Greek and Roman antiquity was the Renaissance. Impressionism gave a new impulse to the sculptural arts. Contemporary artists such as Jorg Immendorf, Andora, and Markus Lupertz also enriched sculptures with outstanding works.
