Rainer Stiefvater
The German painter and sculptor Rainer Stiefvater was born in 1943. He trained as a stove fitter and tiler, but he soon devoted himself to the fine arts and trained at the Basel School of Applied Arts and the Munich Academy of Fine Arts. In over 40 years as a freelance artist, he created an extensive body of work, including sculptures, statues, wall reliefs, fountains and material pictures, which he designed both abstractly and figuratively.
In addition to exhibitions at home and abroad, he has taken on various public commissions, including sculptures for the city of Freiburg.
