Sofia Speybrouck
The Belgian sculptor Sofia Speybrouck, born in 1970, works at the intersection between figuration and abstraction. All of her objects have counterparts in reality, such as people or animals. Speybrouck radically reduces these to their basic forms and rearranges the proportions from scratch. Some of her aesthetic bodies made of bronze and ceramic only reveal their underlying true inspiration upon closer inspection, leaving room for interpretation.
