Maxim Probst

Diamonds are regarded as symbols of purity, hardness and luxury. The painter Maxim Probst is particularly interested in the fascinating appearance of the "kings of all gemstones". He magnifies them as if under a magnifying glass, meticulously emphasising their typical features. He almost photorealistically depicts the refraction of light, the play of colours and the cut.

In addition to diamonds, his second major focus is on male nudes. With great sensitivity, Probst portrays his characters with all their facets - ranging from powerful to emotional. In his series of pictures, he combines both themes, integrating male bodies into the structures of the diamonds.

Born in 1981, Maxim Probst studied at the "AKI ArtEZ" in Enschede, Netherlands, and at "Alanus Hochschule für Kunst und Gesellschaft" in Alfter, Germany, graduating with a Master of Fine Arts. Since 2011, he has been working as a freelance artist, regularly exhibiting his works across Europe. Maxim Probst lives and works in Cologne.
