Jacob Gildor
Jacob Gildor was born in Germany in 1948 and emigrated to Israel with his family in 1949. He lives and works alternately in Tel Aviv and Paris. Gildor first studied law, and at the same time fine arts, under the Austrian artist Ernst Fuchs among others.
Printmaking, especially etching, is a particular focal technique in his work. In this intaglio technique, he created equally beautiful and haunting nudes.
Even though Gildor belongs to the so-called "Second Generation" which means that he did not experience the Holocaust first-hand, the Shoah still influences his work today. The artist can look back on over one hundred solo exhibitions worldwide and has international collectors.
